Tokyo Japan, February, 2004... FlyOver Technologies, Inc. announced today that the company’s 2nd generation Visual Map™ technology was implemented in Kenwood’s latest release of Car Navigation Systems in Japan called Theater Navi.

These latest car navigation systems utilizing FlyOver technology to display aerial imagery as realistic 3D navigation map with all maps attributes. FlyOver 2nd generation aerial imagery streaming technology, presents Japan entire 47 Prefectures in four seasons view, as well as detailed 97 cities, indicate the current car position and trace the car movement in real-time via an on board GPS. In addition the “Sky Cruise View” provides route guidance and Point of Interest placement. Realistic sky textures for day, sunset and night are dynamically changed with matching real-time change in image color tone.

Kenwood will aim to bring the home theater experience to automobiles with a new line of car audio-visual products that it will put on sale between early February and early March 2004.

Included will be two audio-visual navigation systems. Priced at 298,000 yen, the HDV-910 is the top-of-the-line navigation system equipped with a 20GB hard drive, a CD/DVD drive, as well as a MD player. Alternatively, with a price tag of 248,000 yen, the HDV-810 features a 20GB drive and a CD/DVD drive.

The aftermarket car navigation system shipments in Japan were estimated at 1.2 million units in 2003, up 20% from 2002.

Isaac Levanon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FlyOver, stated, “these new systems are the latest in total of five car navigation systems introduced by Kenwood with FlyOver technology since 2002. It is a renewed vote of confidence in the commercializing value of FlyOver technology to enhance driver’s navigation experience. We overcame major technical barriers to allow larger area coverage imagery of over 60Gb with higher lossless compression, provide real-time filter to enhance image quality, and dynamically change the image color tone to match more realistic sky textures for day, sunset and night. FlyOver offer car navigation providers the benefit to integrate the FlyOver technology without redesigning their hardware, hence reducing both cost and time to market” added Mr. Levanon.
